Hierarchy
Lord/Lady- The head(s) of the family.
Heir/Heiress- The second in line. Often the son/daughter of the Lord/Lady. They have little to no say, but are given the utmost respect from the rest of the family.
Duke/Duchess- The second in command. Often they are close relatives of the Lord/Lady of the family. On rare occasions, if the Lord/Lady fails to provide an heir, the Duke/Duchess will take over. If the Lord/Lady cannot find find a partner to provide an heir, the Duke/Duchess (on some occasions) will be chosen to be the father/mother of it.
Baron/Baroness- A title of respect, however it doesn't carry much power. They are often in charge of minor things.
